At Pencwm Escapes, caring for the land and living gently with nature are at the heart of everything we do. When we moved to Wales, we wanted to create a place where families could enjoy the outdoors responsibly; a space that brings people closer to nature while protecting it for future generations. Every choice we make, from the products we use to the way we build, reflects that commitment.
We’re proud members of the Greener Camping Club, which means our site is for members only. This helps us keep numbers low, maintain a peaceful atmosphere, and ensure our impact on the environment stays minimal. Each membership also contributes to tree planting and sustainability projects across the UK; helping protect beautiful spaces like ours
Pencwm is a little haven for wildlife. You might spot owls, hedgehogs, frogs, bats, and plenty of birds during your stay. We’ve planted native trees and wildflower areas, created a wildlife pond, and installed bird and bat boxes to give nature a helping hand. We also leave parts of the site wild and undisturbed, allowing natural habitats to flourish in their own way.
Watching wildlife thrive here has been one of the most rewarding parts of our journey.
For us, sustainability is also about people. We love working with local companies and supporting small Welsh businesses wherever we can. Our girls are happily embedded in the local school and culture, and we’re proud to be part of a warm, welcoming community that shares our love of the outdoors.
We know sustainability is an ongoing journey. Each year we set ourselves new goals — whether it’s planting more trees, adding new habitats, or finding better ways to reduce waste. The more we learn, the better we can care for this little corner of Wales that we’re lucky to call home.
We’ve taken care to design Pencwm Escapes with the environment in mind.
Our small number of spacious pitches allows the land to breathe and wildlife to thrive. We’ve used local, sustainable timber yards for our structures, sourced native wildflower seeds from nearby companies, and planted new trees and hedgerows to encourage biodiversity.
We use eco-friendly cleaning products throughout the site and provide clear recycling and composting facilities to help minimise waste. Every decision, no matter how small, is guided by the same goal: to keep Pencwm as natural and low-impact as possible.
We ask all our visitors to join us in caring for this beautiful place by:
• Leaving no trace
• Recycling and composting wherever possible
• Keeping noise and lights low to protect wildlife
• Respecting the land, the animals, and each other
Together, we can make sure Pencwm stays wild, welcoming, and full of life for many years to come.
